Ammatour is a Lebanese village number one in lebanon in literacy level, arroud 60 Km far from Beirut and about between 800 and 1050 Meter above sea level.
Ammatour is inhabited by around 5000 registered resident from Druze and Christians; it is also famous for its wealth in water resources around 365 spring, fountain, and river.
The most well known families in Ammatour are Abou Chacra and Abdul Samad both families played major political, economical roles in Mount lebanon history especially during the 19th century, Abou Charca family lead the druze religion for many years.
Ammatour situated on the south part of mont- liban and from Ammatour u can reach Jezine area (in south Lebanon) Ammatour is close to Moukhtara the village of the politcal leader of druze and verry cclose also to the ceders. most of Ammatourian live in Beirut, Europe, United States and Canada, also in the Arab World.
